The Lake Windermere Whiteway
Lake Windermere has frozen over and the anticipation has subsided with the official announcement that the Lake Windemere Whiteway is open!
Maintained by the Toby Creek Nordic Club, the Lake Windermere Whiteway offers over 30km of multi-use trails for ice-skating as well as groomed skate and classic cross-country ski trails and fat biking.
Interesting fact: The Lake Windermere Whiteway was named the world’s longest skating trail by Guinness World Records in 2014.
The Whiteway has two access points, one at Kinsmen Beach in Invermere and one at Windermere Beach, providing winter sports enthusiasts an incredible facility. The Whiteway stays in world-class shape through each season thanks to the care and maintenance by the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club. The club asks for a small donation fee of $5 per use which helps maintain the trails. An Annual Club Membership functions as your Whiteway Season Pass, and allows for unlimited use of both Lake Windermere and Lake Lillian trails.
Visit either the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club or Lake Windermere Whiteway Facebook pages for trail reports.
Will we see you on the Whiteway this winter? We hope so.
